Their eyes shine in the moon’s light as they fight. Their movements are fluid, smooth, and predatory. Lean, taunt muscles lay beneath different colors of fur and sharp incisors are visible beneath black gums. Blood spatters over their beautiful coats and color the ground red as they snap, tear, and wound each other.

Fur standing on end, you approach the two groups as they pause and separate as they take notice of your presence. Two pairs of eyes stand out to you and unnerve you. Both seemed to draw the respect out of you without your consent as you lower your head and tuck your tail between your legs. Power radiated from them both, and you’re unsure whether it was the large, dark grey male with golden eyes, or the black female with bright green eyes that had the strongest air to them. They both stood across from each other, and large groups of other wolves and Werelings in human forms stand on each side behind them. All of their eyes bore into you and you stop as you stand before the two obvious leaders.

Your muscles tense and they begin to shake as your wolf side slowly draws you towards one side, your true nature, good or evil, slowly reveals itself as you make your decision. Which side will you choose? Will you choose the path of light and good? Or the path of dark and evil?

Huey couldn’t help the bright smile on his face as he had followed Elite Damian back to the pack hotel. When he saw it he was sure his mouth dropped out of sheer shock at the place he would be living in starting now. “Wow” he mouthed silently to himself as his head turned from side to side, marveling at the magnificence of the edifice. Walking in, he again gaped in awe at the inside of the building, just as amazing as the outside structure. Soon he was given a room number and parted ways with the Elite. Taking the Elite’s advice though Huey thought he would stop by the doctors’ rooms to say hi and tell them of his aspirations. After that he’d probably go to see the Alphess and pay his respects to her. He asked for some directions from the people at the front desk, surprised they were Omegas, and then saying his ‘thanks’ walked to find the medical ward of the hotel.

He started a bit when he heard a boisterous laugh and relaxed when it was only Bard, resurfacing to give the boy his congrats. ”Well done boy, I knew you had it in ya. Now look at you, ready to be a member of a pack. I’m proud of you Huey. You made it through the acceptance and you showed confidence,” Bard said laughing in mirth at the boy’s accomplishment. Huey smiled as he walked around looking for the correct room number. ”Thanks Bard, I’m glad I got through that without any troubles. Elite Damian was nice though, but I haven’t met any other members of the pack so I can’t assume they’re all like him. The Alphess sounded like a stern lady,” Huey commented as looked at the map the front desk worker drew for him and looked back up to where he was walking. ”An Alphess has to be stern to keep control over her pack. Be sure not to let her think you’re weak Huey. One word from her and you’re out as fast as you stepped into this hotel,” Bard reminded him and Huey nodded his head in understanding. He’d remember that when he went to pay his respects.

Finally finding the room, Huey cleared his throat and entered knocking his knuckles on the door to signal his arrival. He looked at the impeccably clean-kept place and smiled slightly as he thought of how much he would learn from here. He walked in further and saw someone else in the room, a lady and he figured she must either be Doctor Vitani or Doctor Evie as Elite Damian had mentioned. Huey gathered up some confidence and then introduced himself. ”Hello, uh my name is Hughes Greyson and I just got accepted into the pack. Elite Damian said that I should come visit the doctors’ office to say hi. I have interests in the medical field and becoming a doctor for the pack I suppose,” Huey said as he smiled, polite and friendly, and then waited for a response. He wondered if they would be like Elite Damian in personality.

Doctor Evie

Doctor Evie

Evie flicked the views on her microscope to their highest setting as her left eye squinted into the lens piece with pure focus. An eyed dropper was between the forefinger and thumb of her right hand, holding it there until she needed it as she tried to deccide what magnitude allowed her to see the damaged cells more clearly. Her lips pursed tightly as she selected a magnification and carefully squeezed out a single drop of the serum that had filled the eyedropper. All part of Evie froze and her complete focused rested on the damaged cells, waiting to see their reaction. Nothing, and it was the third healing serum she had tried that morning. Evie had cut her own palm for the work and taken her own damaged cells to try to speed up the process of already speeding wereling healing. Fatal injuries for her kind could become nonexistent is she could only just get the healing tonic correct. She did have a few tricks up her sleeve, crazy ideas she had had earlier and decided she was out of options. Moving to vial holder, Evie took a fresh eyedropper from a drawer and sucked up some deep purple liquid from the vial. She placed a latex gloved hand under the eyedropper to catch and liquid that would dare fall and placed a new slide of damaged cells under the microscope. Evie bit her lip, hard, as she squeezed another drop of test solution onto the test subject. This time the reaction was immediate, the cells fusing together to heal themselves and become whole once more. Evie gave a cheer of delight and could’ve kissed the eyedropper if she hadn’t stopped herself. Placing the serum back into the vial, she carefully used a cork as a lid and placed the tonic in the fridge so it wouldn’t go bad. Evie almost didn’t hear the voice coming from the main area, and she curiously rushed to see what it was.

The doctor found herself facing a young boy, and a welcoming smile came over her face as she eagerly walked towards him with her hand out in greeting. "Well hello there young Mr. Greyson, it’s a pleasure. I’m Doctor Evelyn Claremont, but pleasure just call me Evie. Interests in the medical field you say? Well then, I guess I would be happy to take you beneath my wing, per say, and mentor you. Come back into my labs. Though, I must ask, how fond are you of snakes?” As if on cue, Boo came out from wherever he had been hiding too look at Hughes. All limbless, eighteen feet of him gave no threatening posture besides a flick of it’s tongue before it follows it’d beloved owner into the labs. “He’s a therapy boa, and he gives great massages. But this is what I wanted to show you,” she said and gestured to the microscope before her for him to take a look at another slide of damaged cells. Evie took out the dark liquid she had used earlier and placed a drop upon the cells, almost seeing them immediately healing in her own mind. “That, Hughes, is new generation of medicine that has yet to be introduced. This is what you’d be getting into as well as healing, are you sure that this is what you want?”

Huey’s felt a smile tug at his lips when the doctor approached him and smiled—she seemed like a nice lady and he was eager to know what she was up to. Earlier he had noticed that she was busy looking into a microscope and didn’t hear him come in; he knew what it felt like to be so enraptured in something to ignore everything around you and his scientist side was anxious to find out what she was studying or researching. He smiled at her, warm and friendly, as he took her offered hand in a handshake and then nodded to her, dipping his head in acknowledgment of her rank. ”It’s nice to meet you Dr. Evie, you can call me Huey. Yes I’m greatly interested in the medical field and if I had the financial means I would have gone to college studying medicine. Thank so much for giving me this chance, promise I won’t let you down,” he told her with an earnest and sincere expression on his face as he looked at her with respect and admiration for her work.

She headed back to her labs and he followed behind her without a second thought as his curiosity got the better of him when it came to medicine and he was quite eager to see what a doctor of a were pack did in her spare time besides treat patients obviously. When she asked if he was fond of snakes though he was caught off guard for a moment at the random question before movement caught his eye and he saw a large snake, at least a good 18 or so feet, slither out from who knows where, give him a look, and follow after its owner. Reeling from the daze he answered her, ”I love animals actually. A therapy boa—I’ve never heard of using a snake for therapy or massages, most people would freak out from being in the same room. Looks to be in great shape, nice size too, well-kept and happy,” Huey remarked as he followed after the snake and doctor.

Reaching her labs, Dr. Evie indicated a microscope and Huey's eyes light up as he placed his skateboard by the doorway and tentatively approached the instrument, peered into the eyepiece and looking to see what the good doctor had been so focused earlier. He saw a microscope slide of damaged cells but what was even more astonishing was when she added some kind of serum and suddenly the cells divided amongst themselves, getting rid of the old dead ones and replacing them with new cells almost immediately. His mouth dropped slightly at what he just saw and he listened to her explanation. Pulling back from the microscope he gave her a smile and an excited expression. "I'm guessing this is medicine specifically for weres then? What kind of cells were those? Does this medicine work on all kinds of cells? Like say lung cells or liver cells? Because they do have different properties and all so I was just wondering if it was universal to all our body's cells. But wow that was amazing," he took a breather and spoke again after hearing her tell him that he would be assisting her with her research as well as learning how to heal. "I get to work on this with you? Am I sure this is what I want? Definitely yes! I have so much to learn but I'm willing to take anything you have to teach me Doc," Huey responded, eyes bright and a big smile on his young face.

Smiling brightly to the young boy, she was reminded of the children she had so often saw in her homelands. No doubt he was very young, she could see that his eyes did not carry that of aged experiences. Evie was excited to hear such a healthy thirst for knowledge in the field of science. As if he had heard Hughes speaking about him, the boa slithered up her leg and curled around her arm. The snake’s head rested on its owner’s shoulder and slowly wound itself around her waist like a belt. She looked to the young boy and smiled. “Boo is trained to give people comfort when it is needed and wrap around his clients, contracting his body as gently as possible to massage the patient. He is my boa and he should be well-kept. All of those rats he eats makes him pudgy. Would you like to hold him? Just let him slither onto your arm. He’ll check you out at first, maybe flick his tongue on your face to get a sense of what you are and who you are. It would be best, since I will be mentoring you until you’re capable of working on your own.” She nodded once and held out her arm, waiting to see if Boo would crawl to the boy before putting it down. Evie went to the vials and poured a small sample into a divided holder before pouring the rest into a container. Her hand took a container of gasoline and squeezed a few drops into the liquid. Lighting a match, she tossed it into the failed serums and watched as the lit and burned. She took a small machine and placed the contained piece around it. Flipping a switch, a machine began to suck up the smoke from the burning serums. Air blew softly from the other side, pure and clean as she looked to Hughes. “First lesson, clean up your chemicals but always keep a tiny sample somewhere that it will freeze. You never know what it might be handy for later. The machine I’m using is a system I developed to purify the air so no more dangerous chemicals get burnt off. Global warming and that, you know? But always, always use this machine and keep the air nice and clean. Are we understood?” The doctor leaned back against the counter and arched a brow, listening for her apprentice to respond.

Evie nodded and laughed softly as his questions of what he saw beneath the microscope. She had expected questions, and was ready to answer them quickly. “I developed it for weres, but it will work on humans just fine. I am not against humans like most, so I make medicines to suit both species. Those are damaged skin cells. They were the easiest I could get to but I do believe it can heal internal wounds if it is ingested. I form it to be a kind of virus really, attacking the damaged parts of the body until they are either regenerated or healed. If I were to give a large enough amount and perfected it completely, it could be given to an amputee and regenerate any parts that have been lost.” Smiling to her apprentice, she ruffled his hair and nodded. “I’ll teach you, eager one. I’m glad to have such a thirst for knowledge from a student.”

The young boy could barely contain his excitement. His eyes had light up with eagerness and his legs were bouncing up and down, this time not from nervousness or anxiety, but from happiness. Damn, he didn’t think he could find a better opportunity than this with an internship. He had tried his luck, browsed all websites, went to hospitals and talked to their staff, went into colleges to ask their medical schools if perhaps he could get an internship; but this, working direct with a doctor of such high caliber and with such interesting research, he could hardly believe it. He couldn’t help but take a peek back at the cells beneath the microscope, still amazed at the rapid regeneration he just witnessed. When Dr. Evie spoke, he looked up back to her and his eyes were soon drawn to the large boa slowly coiling himself around her. A small smile appeared on his face as he watched Boo with fascination, obviously having never been in such close proximity with a real reptile of that size. ”May I?” he asked her, referring to if he could hold the boa. He sat still, keeping his eyes on the snake to see if Boo would take to him.

When Dr. Evie moved away, he turned slightly to see what she was up to now, watching as she got rid of what he presumed was failed tests of the serum. Huey then watched curiously as a machine sucked up the fumes like a vacuum. Once she started talking about proper cleaning procedures in her lap he listened intently and nodded his head. ”Gotcha, always keep the lab clean. Crystal clear, understood ma’am,” he told her with a serious face as he turned to eye Boo once more. He had a feeling he was going to like working here immensely. Already Huey enjoyed Dr. Evie’s presence, her intellect and skills as a medic were superb and he was quickly becoming fond of her boa as well. When she spoke more about her research he gave her his attention. ”If it works like a virus, would be a possibility of our own cells attacking it? Regeneration of lost limbs? So what you’re telling me is you’ve found a way to harness abilities like a lizard’s tail growing back? This is mindblowing! Doc you’re gonna make history with this! What else do you have planned? Anything else with stem cell research?” he asked as he looked at the serum in a new light.

Laughing as her new apprentice’s enthusiasm, Evie patted his shoulder and took the sample from the microscope before shutting it off. She answered his questions with a calm voice. “Yes, our cells could attack it if I had not placed the nerve systems into it. There is a tiny microchip that deactivates and is excreted after it settles the mind and ultimately numbs the cells so that they may not attack it. The microchip tells the cells and the brain that what is going on is good for it, which is not a lie. Yes, I’m telling you I found how a lizard manages to grow its tail back. It took months, but I have found it. This is not for the history books and it will be carried on to who I see fit to give it to. If this was introduced to human science, they would do horrible things for it. I know how twisted the human mind is, and I do not trust even allowing a human to just glance at this serum. Yes, Huey, I have many more projects planned. Not all have to do with cell research, some have to do with plants and the wereling brain connection between pack members. I am doing a lot of research and I will be needing your assistance in it soon enough. As for now though, it’s time for my lunch break and if you want you are welcome to join me.” Smiling to Hughes, Evie took Boo and placed him in the huge wall-covering tank in her office. Dropping a couple of live city rats within, she locked the tank door and padlocked it to ensure her boa would not escape. She walked to the coatrack and slipped on her warm, velvety jacket. Buttoning it up, she looked to Hughes and waited to see if he would come with her.

{Sorry it's short. Low muse level.}
