Their eyes shine in the moon’s light as they fight. Their movements are fluid, smooth, and predatory. Lean, taunt muscles lay beneath different colors of fur and sharp incisors are visible beneath black gums. Blood spatters over their beautiful coats and color the ground red as they snap, tear, and wound each other.

Fur standing on end, you approach the two groups as they pause and separate as they take notice of your presence. Two pairs of eyes stand out to you and unnerve you. Both seemed to draw the respect out of you without your consent as you lower your head and tuck your tail between your legs. Power radiated from them both, and you’re unsure whether it was the large, dark grey male with golden eyes, or the black female with bright green eyes that had the strongest air to them. They both stood across from each other, and large groups of other wolves and Werelings in human forms stand on each side behind them. All of their eyes bore into you and you stop as you stand before the two obvious leaders.

Your muscles tense and they begin to shake as your wolf side slowly draws you towards one side, your true nature, good or evil, slowly reveals itself as you make your decision. Which side will you choose? Will you choose the path of light and good? Or the path of dark and evil?

Venantium or Eternals?

1 On the road again. on Fri Oct 11, 2013 5:06 pm

Hopefully this topic goes better than the first. You have my apologies once again for that.

Rick James walked lazily down the tar road, away from the place he once called home. He had reached the inner city limits and now could barely go a minute or even less without a car rushing on past him. No one stopped, though it wasn't like Rick expected any of them too. Even some of his old packmates passed him by without a second glance. The only reason Rick could tell their cars from the millions of others who drove by was because he'd washed many of them during his time as an omega under Braveheart rule.

But those times were sadly, not so sadly, over. The Alpha had been killed and no one had decided to step up and take his place, so the pack was forced to disperse. He heard of some that were planning long distance trips so that they may be reunited with family, and others, like himself, had decided to stay in the general area by joining a local pack. There were two in this area. One, Eternal Darkness; the formal enemy of Braveheart, and two, Venantium. Venantium was a new pack which was actually led by the former Braveheart Betas. He wasn't quite sure why they decided to run off and start a pack of their own, he hadn't heard any of the details. But during breakfast clean up for a couple days he would constantly hear about how Beta Teimhnin and Beta Jace had created a place for themselves along Long Island. So Rick, without a dire need to kill and feast, decided to follow the steps of others towards his past Betas' new pack.

However when James did finally manage to make it to the freshly marked border, He was unsure with how to carry on. With the scent of so many humans around, it seemed unlikely for him to do a swift change and call out a greeting. But how else was he supposed to make his presence known? There wasn't exactly a giant red buzzer at the front gate allowing new recruits inside. Rick cast a quick glance around before changing his facial features just slightly, then let out a simple and clipped melody. Then Rick had nothing else to do but wait. So to pass the time by, Rick acted as if he was simply just another tourist. He watched birds fly overheard and listened to the waves crash rhythmically against the shore.

The Alphess had been relaxing on the beach, lazily enjoying the rays of the sun that had no effect on her. Large sunglasses were slid to cover her eyes while she relaxed. The waves of the water would nip at her toes, though she just lay there and sipped her glass of lemonade. It had been a long day for her, nothing but training herself to be back in her best possible physical shape. She had been doing well so far, though her concentrations were on her pack as well. There had been some newcomers, but she had only met one at the borders so far. Some of the newer members were some that she was ecstatic to meet. Others didn’t bring so much excitement. Each one from Braveheart reminded her who had died there.

She would never understand why her past Alpha had to die, but both her and her wolf were slowly getting over it. Oh, that’s right, her wolf. That would be a little secret she would keep for a while longer until she felt like sharing. With a smirk, Teimhnin stood and walked back into her house when she was finished with all the relaxation. She went up to her spacious room and put on a simple red shark-bite dress and a pair of heels that said she meant business. Border patrols were a thing she took deadly serious, but she wanted to separate herself from the lower ranks in her pack. She looked professional in her own right and kept her chin held high in the most dominant way that she could. If she was going to be looking for new members, why not be professional in playing the part?

The call came to her ears after she had gotten a good fifteen minutes into her patrolling. It was clipped and short, but it had been there. She hoped that they hadn’t come as a wolf, but the Alphess just decided to assume no one would be that blunt with themselves. Having to handle a crowd of screaming humans just because a huge wolf was waiting for acceptance was not the way to make a great first impression. Teimhnin walked a little faster and followed the crowd of people until she both smelled and saw who she was looking for. Thankfully this wereling looked human and had hid himself after calling out. Teimhnin walked over to him and stood directly in front of him. Looking to make sure no one noticed, she looked at the wereling male and let her wolf fangs extend until they poke her bottom lip. After making sure that he saw them, she immediately retracted them and looked at the male. “Welcome to the Venantium borders. I’m Alphess Teimhnin, and who might you be?”

Soon enough Rick noticed one person who stood out from the rest. She was a female with thick red hair that reached far past her shoulders. She moved with purpose, her large eyes scanning the crowd of tourists until they came to rest on him. His own brown eyes flickered back to the raging waters. Within seconds the redhead had made her way to him and positioned herself directly infront of him. She flahsed her wolf fangs at him after she'd glanced around. He flashed his own, his gaze flickering away as a child ran past. He quickly hid them, his gaze matching hers again.

"Rick James. Pleasure." Rick kept his answers straight and to the point. He did not wish to waste time. He only wanted to prove himself so that he may be accepted into this Alphess' pack. Only then would he relax.

The squealing of that same child caught Rick's attention. The small being was running back and forth, chasing the water as it withdrew and then hastily running back as it threatened to lick her ankles. She continued to squeal with glee, repeating the process over and over again. The noise however had begun to give Rick quite the headache and he glared at the small child. His wolf lay down with it's paws over its ears, wishing for the child to be eliminated. The two were not fond of children, they actually made a habit of avoiding the disgusting creatures.

Suddenly out of patience Rick sighed, a low growl. "I wish to join Venantium..." Rick paused. He had been about to ask for a perticular rank, but hesitated. Should he tell her of his past Omega status? He doubted she remembered him, Omegas were often invisible to others. And despite how easy the job was, being an omega, he did not wish to continue it. He was an excellant fighter, he and his wolf rather enjoyed the feeling of tearing flesh, but not so much as to join Eternal Darkness. They were vicious and their acts of cruelty had no reasoning, they simply did because they wished. He felt that in Venantium, he would have good reasoning for his little bouts, which would, in the end, make them that more enjoyable...

Rick blinked momentarily. His mind had drifted, and he searched Alphess Teimhnin's facial features to see if he'd missed anything she'd said.

The Alphess crossed her arms and looked at the male with a strict eye. Her chin tilted up a notch, showing her dominance and looking critically at the male. With one quick glance she had sized him up and was lifting a single brow at him. The noise that sounded around them hardly had any effect on here, but she had gotten used to living in such a way. When she picked up that it was bothering him the Alphess began walking away with the expectation for him to follow. Glancing back at him, she gestured for him to stand beside her as she guided him through the crowds of people. “Well met, Rick. If I do recall correctly, you were an omega of Braveheart. What you did to earn the rank I am not sure of, but this pack is different. It is ran with two Alphas, both strong in their own right. We do not open our house to members unless they are too young to support themselves. We will give you housing, but expenses are all on you after that. We will give you a career of your choosing to support yourself, but coddling isn’t something we allow. If you think you can handle that, you will be given the rank of a warrior.”

She stopped in front of many buildings all set aside for the Venantium pack. “You’ll be picking something from here, whatever fits your fancy we have it. Now, I need to know the career you want and your vow to this pack.”

Rick looked down at the Alphess that stood before him. Even though she was shorter than he, she held her chin up and radiated dominance. When she arched a single eyebrow at him Rick gazed back, so she'd picked up the noise around him was affecting him negatively. He was grateful when she began to walk along the beachside, away from the sounds. He followed in a casual stance, his hands tucked into his pockets and his single bag bumping his back with each step. To the humans around them he appeared like any other, as did Teimhnin. Rick kept close to her as she began to weave in and around the crowd.

He couldn't help the scowl that appeared on his face when she spoke. So she knew about his past rank, but not the reason? Best to keep it that way, Rick thought to himself. He listened intently as Teimhnin  spoke about her pack and how it was run. There were traces of pride laced within her words, even if they were said rather sternly. "Understood Miss Teimhnin." He spoke in a soft murmur, partly out of habit. His days as an Omega got himself caught addressing others as "Miss" or "Sir". It would be unlikely that he'd break the habit.

The two were long away from the bustering crowd that had made Rick stand on edge. Now Rick's ears were blessed with the single sound of waves crashing along the shore. He inhaled deeply and simply listened. I can get used to this. He imagined himself sitting out front of one of the beautiful buildings in a hand crafted rocker and a special book. Or even sitting next to a fire that smelled of maple in the depths of night, with the waves just feet away. "As for my Career Choice, Detective of the nearest Police Facility shall be fine."

Rick nodded his head towards a smaller building, made to look like a minature log cabin. That's the one, He thought to himself. It was rather shitty at first glance, but Rick rather liked the process of remodeling. That way he got to make it just how he liked. Once he'd pointed out his choice to Alphess Teimhnin, he'd turned his body so that he may face her instead of just standing at her side. His eyes were narrowed slightly in utter seriousness, his arms crossed across his chest. His chest heaved once and then one arm dropped to his side, while the other stayed crossed over his head. "I, Rick James, herby vow my life and service to you, Alphess Teimhnin of Venantium. As well as to your partener, Alpha Jace of Venantium. I will abide by your rules and walk your ways until you the Alphess Herself orders me to leave." Rick lowered his arm so that it too hung by his side. For a moment he watched Teimhnin's expressions and movements, waiting for a hint of approval or denial.

Hearing of his career choice, she nodded once and pulled a notepad out of her purse. It seemed that she had been doing that a lot these days, but she didn’t have another reason to be carrying around a notepad. “Here is a phone number to a guy named Archie. If you tell him that Tei sent you, he will be a little reluctant but will allow you on the force. Just try to convince him as best as possible. Oh, and tell him that if he hires you that his IOU to me has been paid.” She glanced at the housing that he chose and nodded once before turning back to him with crossed arms. She thought over what needed to be done once she was done there and tilted her head. Once it seemed that Rick was ready to give his oath, she listened carefully for any dishonesty in his voice. Finding none, she nodded and gave the slightest of smiles. “Welcome to the Venantium Pack, Warrior Rick. Enjoy your time here and do as you please within reason.” Before she left, she spoke once more and handed him the paper holding the phone number. “I have my own business that I must attend to, but I will be seeing you around. Good luck.” With that, the Alphess left.
