‘Beep... beep... beep.’ The Alphess jumped awake, startled by the sound of her alarm clock going off. At first she thought it was the sound of a heart monitor. She could nearly imagine herself still hooked up to the IVs, like she was waking up from her coma all over again and all that she had done in the past was some sick dream. Teimhnin shook her head fiercely, telling herself that that wasn’t the case and she was fine. Her heart still beat erratically in her chest, but she was gradually calming down and letting the dreams slide away into her unconsciousness. She looked around the room, expecting to see the dark lights of near dawn. Instead, she was greeted with the morning light creeping in through the curtains covering the large picture windows. A delicious scent reached her nose and she was fully awoken by the loud grumbling of her stomach. Next to her bed lay a tray neatly set with eggs, french toast, and slices of apple on the side. She nearly smiled but paused, arching a brow at the display and wondering who exactly left this wonderful gift for her. The bed had felt empty when she had awoken, so she knew that her mate was at work. A few inhales and moments of listening told her that her Beta was gone as well, but they were both just as likely to make her breakfast in bed and change her alarm to wake her five hours after it was supposed to. The Alphess rolled her eyes and smiled when a sweet and elegant smell cut through the one of her breakfast. She looked more closely and noticed a delicate red rose folded in with her silverware. One look at the beautiful flower confirmed her suspicions of it being her mate, for he had brought her a huge multitude of flowers the night before. Her fingers felt the petals gently as she removed her fork and began eating. The love of her life was a brilliant cook, and she added it to the mental list of things she loved as the delicious tastes exploded over her tongue and gave her a moment of happy bliss. Teimhnin’s meal was over to soon in her opinion, but she had things to do in the first place anyways. Taking the tray and setting it aside, the Alphess hopped up from the warmth of her bed and walked towards the large picture window. The curtains were heavy and soft, made for blocking out the light when she and her love were sleeping. Nevertheless, she pushed them aside with ease and was rewarded with the mesmerizing view of the ocean before her. Waves were crashing and rolling along the banks and were colored dully from the sun hiding behind the clouds. In the months since she had awoken, it had gotten colder too soon for her taste. The temperature was moderate, a great day for training outside. Nodding to herself in silent agreement, she set about preparing to train outside. Her pajamas were on the floor within seconds and a pair of jogging pants were hugging her hips gently. A loose fitting tank top was placed over a sports bra and the laces of her running hoes were tied tight before the Alphess moved to the full-length mirror to examine herself. The muscle she had lost in her months of sleep had returned back in full as well as her strength. Her body didn’t look exactly like it had before, in fact it looked better in her opinion. Teimhnin smiled at herself and tied her crimson hair back, letting a few loose waves escape as she made her way out of the house. With every room she passed, a sense of pride flowed through her at her work. The house had been decorated and finished in a matter of two months, with a color scheme of light creams and tans with the most amazing carpet she had ever felt underfoot. The appliances were shiny and new, more for her mate than they were for her. The furniture was chocolate colored leather and extremely comfortable. Each guest room was a different soft, pastel color with a queen sized bed that fit the colors of the room. Teimhnin’s and Jace’s room had taken the longest simply because she had wanted it to be perfect. The walls were black but hardly noticed when surrounded with deep, beautiful cherry wood. The bed and floor was the same type of wood, but the bed was the part most payed attention to. It was a four-poster bed and absolutely huge compared to all the other rooms. Covered with the softest deep red silk she had ever felt, Teimhnin had often never wanted to leave the room and instead just lay in the comfort. She pushed that thought away as she walked out the front door and into the open air, ready to train.
It was known that Jace had to eventually go back to work, and that gave the Alphess the time to train on her own. This was a secret she kept from him, though she was sure that he had figured out she left to work out in the early mornings long ago. Teimhnin had promised she would simply relax during the day, but she just couldn’t. She wanted to become as strong as she possibly could not just for him, but for her pack as well. When Jace was home they would train together, but her significant increase in her abilities was because how she pushed herself during the day. Jace would coddle her or tell her to relax every time she began to show the least bit of red to her face. She loved him dearly, but this was something she had to do alone. He had been there for every great improvement, including her first shift back to her primal form. It had been a glorious night and they had celebrated with a few drinks and a huge meal. The internal effect it had on her was greater than the external, for she started showing a great amount of improvement with her training after that. Her wolf was with her and they were in sync, both planning it keep it that way for the rest of their lives. Even now, as Teimhnin had begun a light jog along the beach, she knew her wolf was eager to run. Gradually the Alphess could feel herself relax into the pace she was at, and she continued until she was at a full sprint. The wind whipped at her face and adrenaline rushed through her body, igniting a spark within her and suddenly feet became four large paws darting across the ground. Her lungs expanded as her body shifted to the snowy body of a wolf, letting the primal creature within her take over. Bones crackled and shifted back into their places, muscles growing large and working intensely as she ran. The beach was private, so there was no worry of spectators seeing the large wolf darting across the sandy ground. She moved to the water line, splashing into the waves that came into her path and soaking her pelt without a care. The Alphess laughed and pushed herself to move faster and faster until she couldn’t speed up any more. A large amount of miles had passed under her paws, letting free of the true power she held until their private beach came to an end. With no desire to have humans see her like she was, the female turned back and cooled off on her way back to their house. About halfway back, she shifted back and once again became the fiery redhead that she was. Teimhnin felt simply exhilarated, and she paused to look out at the water and stretch what muscle that hadn’t loosened during her run. Her body felt much better than it had when she woke, leaving her to smile and make her way back to the house at an easy jog.
Despite how she felt, how she looked was a different story. Peeling off her sweaty clothing, Teimhnin rinsed herself off in the shower and thought until she had decided what she would do next. The time on the clock reminded her that Jace would be home in less than an hour, a fact that made her smile and hop up the stairs to their room. Walking to her closet she picked out an old-fashion, red and white striped bikini. It wasn’t a stringy pieces of cloth she saw many women wearing, but the era it reminded her of was on of her favorites. Once she had looped and tied it around her neck she posed and smiled to herself in the mirror, happy with what she saw before going to the kitchen. She pulled out her favorite wine bottle and began pouring herself a drink. Her tolerance for alcohol was one thing that had come back extremely strong, so this little drink wouldn’t be enough to make her any less than sober. Once that was finished, Teimhnin walked to their indoor pool. Before, it had been outside but it had made no sense to her. What reason was there to have a pool outside when the ocean was just there waiting for someone to go swimming in it? So, with that logic in mind, she had had it enclosed and heated for the colder days or when she simply wanted to relax. On that day it had been both, and the Alphess smiled as she hoisted herself onto the blow-up raft. She leaned back and took her wineglass before pushing off and floating around the pool slowly, her fingers tread through the semi-warm water. This wasn’t something she usually did. Normally, she would be in bed until Jace woke her for training or reading on the couch, but today she felt different. A certain attitude was with her, though she couldn’t pinpoint the cause. As she closed her eyes, she let her mind drift away. She could feel her attachment to those in her pack kinetically, but the strongest one came from her mate. She hadn’t really noticed before, but maybe if she tried she could call to him mentally. Tuning all her focus towards that attachment to him, the Alphess called softly to the Alpha and spoke mind to mind. ‘Look what I figured out how to do, Jace. Come home soon, my love. I miss you.’ She kept it short and sweet, dropping the connection after she was sure it had gotten to his mind. Teimhnin smiled, happy she had been able to do such a thing as she floated around on the water and lost in her own thoughts.
