Their eyes shine in the moon’s light as they fight. Their movements are fluid, smooth, and predatory. Lean, taunt muscles lay beneath different colors of fur and sharp incisors are visible beneath black gums. Blood spatters over their beautiful coats and color the ground red as they snap, tear, and wound each other.

Fur standing on end, you approach the two groups as they pause and separate as they take notice of your presence. Two pairs of eyes stand out to you and unnerve you. Both seemed to draw the respect out of you without your consent as you lower your head and tuck your tail between your legs. Power radiated from them both, and you’re unsure whether it was the large, dark grey male with golden eyes, or the black female with bright green eyes that had the strongest air to them. They both stood across from each other, and large groups of other wolves and Werelings in human forms stand on each side behind them. All of their eyes bore into you and you stop as you stand before the two obvious leaders.

Your muscles tense and they begin to shake as your wolf side slowly draws you towards one side, your true nature, good or evil, slowly reveals itself as you make your decision. Which side will you choose? Will you choose the path of light and good? Or the path of dark and evil?

The soft patting of her ballet flats sounded down the sidewalk, reminding her of a different time when she had walked that same exact route. Then she had worn a skin tight dress to hug her every curve. Now, it was a sleeveless sharkbite dress and fell to just above her knees in the front. The back cascaded downwards to the midpoint of her calves. The dress was white, appearing to be purposefully splattered in black paint. A small, silver belt wrapped around her upper waist. To complete the ensamble, a silver teardrop pendant rested on her chest. Black and while bangles clattered around her wrists and two pearl studs rested in each ear. Her red hair was purposefully waved and gently fell down to her shoulder blades. A thin rim of black eyeliner surrounded each silver eye, as well as black mascara on her long lashes. A clear, shiny lipgloss had been put onto her soft lips as the final bit to it all. Whistles and catcalls came in her direction, but she ignored them all. At any different time, she would've responded to them with flirty smiles an the batting of her eyes. Now was no the time though, for she had only dressed to impress one man alone. A small piece of paper rested in her closed hand, holding none other than the beta male's handwriting.

Meet me at Griffen. 8:00 P.M.

There was nothing telling her to dress nice, but she had read between the lines. Jace, the other beta, had called her here and wanted to speak with her. Teimhnin couldn't help but feel her heart pick up its normal pace inside of her chest. Over the past few weeks, they both had spent quite some time together. They spoke over pack matters and just messed around in general. She could remember the day that it had been raining and they'd both had nothing to do. He'd suggested indoor golf, and she was bored enough to go along. The feeling of him arms around her as he helped her had been nothing short of causing her to fall deeper for him. They'd also had sex once, starting their friendship in its entirety. Even now she could feel his passionate mouth on her skin and mouth as he ravished her. They hadn't done anything as intimate those few weeks afterwards, mainly spending more time than normal with each other. She had developed feelings for him, and so far he'd done nothing the discourage her.  She sat at a seat by the window and nowhere near the bar. The need to drink wasn't there today and hadn't been for a while. Her trips to rapture had ended was well. Teimhnin went to bed every night happy at every clever way Jace had caught her attention. Though he really didn't have to try much. Taking her iphone 5 out of the pocket of her dress, she read that it was 7:50 P.M. This surprised her, she had thought it would take her at least two hours to get ready. Instead she was ten minutes early. With a sigh, the fae slid her book out of her purse and began to read, waiting for his arrival.

Every day after Jace had finished the work in his office, he drove his expensive car home, parking it in the driveway of the mansion. And every day he did the same thing, changed from his business clothes to ones more comfortable. But after he had sex with Teimhnin, things all seemed to change. He started living in her room as protection, though they shared the bed, cuddling in the middle of the night. During the afternoons and evenings, Jace and Teimhnin were inseparable. Other wolves made rumors about them, but their relationship seemed as if they were best friends. His eyes always watched others around them, seeing how they looked at her. Jace started to become jealous, filled to the brim if anyone so as much as checked out her ass. He would give them an evil glare, a warning if they would acknowledge it as such. He always thought of the perfect rainy day. Teimhnin had been so upset about the rain, while he thought of a perfect game for them. They played golf inside the house, bouncing the golf balls off walls, stairs, furniture and anything else he could think of. From time to time, they would catch one another staring at the other, but nothing more since the night they made love. To Jace it was love making, for he loved her dearly. The way he had sex with Teimhnin was one he rarely shared with any other females. It was pure emotion between them, passion, lust, and adoration. Days after things were perfect for them. Jace had never loved until he met Teimhnin. When he closed his eyes, or spaced out at his desk while working, he was thinking of Teimhnin. He could imagine her bright blue eyes, her fiery red hair and her soft lips, pressed to his. There were the nights when Teimhnin was working, he would wander the house waiting for her, then right before she got home, he would lie in their bed and fake being asleep.

But tonight was very different. After getting off work, he stayed from the house, instead wandering every jewelry store in the land. One after another, after another, but none of them had what he wanted. He would not rest until he found the perfect one. He had left the note for Teimhnin on his pillow when he left this morning, inviting her to join him at the very first place they met, when he first saw the red hair and black dress. As he finally walked into the last jewelry store, he looked over the counter. A nice lady approached him, speaking softly, "hello sir, can I help you with anything?" Jace looked through the glass to the numerous pieces of jewelry below. "I need something that shows how much I love this girl." His eyes did not look at her even though she was obviously looking at him, staring even. "She is very special to me, my everything. I need something that reflects that." The female realized her chances were slim to none with the serious brute. This was not a ploy to speak with her, he really loved some very lucky girl. "I think I have exactly what you need," she said as she moved from him and headed for the back room. As she came back, she held out a small black box. In the middle of her palm, Jace stared. As she slowly opened it, she began to speak about the diamond itself, how it is a step above all the others in the store. It's band was made of white gold and the band around the rock carried gems embedded in it. As Jace looked over it, he knew it was the one. The female went on talking about it, but all Jace could think of, was presenting it to his love. Cutting her off, he said happily, "I will take it." A look of shock and intrigue splashed across her face. She had not completed selling it to him and he already wanted it. As he handed his credit card to her, she slid him the small velvet box. He closed the lid and tucked it safely into his pocket. As the register finished the sale, she handed him a receipt and
he walked out.

Looking at the time, he checked his phone. It was currently 7:57pm and he was half way across town. Moving to his car quickly, he opened the door and raced off towards the Griffen. As he entered the double doors, he checked the time, he was eleven minutes late. Sighing, he moved to her table, easily spotting her in the crowd. As he walked to the table, he leaned and gave her a kiss on her cheek. "Sorry I am late. My client decided to change their plan of attack against the defense, and there was a board meeting afterwards. And you know traffic in this city is hell," he said with a chuckle as he lifted his menu. "Have you ordered yet?" As he lifted his eyes fromt he text, he looked over her body. She was dressed beautifully and her hair, stunning, perfect as always. Her eyes stuck out from the rest of the world here, bright and beautiful. He could barely take his eyes off them. Moving his hand to his pocket, he touched the velvet case, making sure it was still there. "How was your day, Teimhnin?"

Teimhnin had been flipping the pages of her novel, but not really reading it. The fae had checked her phone every five minutes, watching the time grow later and later. She had begun to think it was a trick when his form passed through the window she had been sitting by. A sigh of relief left her and the beta's eye came alight just by the sight of him. She started at his blonde hair, moving her eyes down the perfection that was him. At his leaning, she tilted her face up for him. The light brush of his lips on her cheek were enough to make her heart beat quicker. There was no denying what her feelings for him were, but the fear of them made her push them to the back of her mind. This could've been just another one of their friendly escapades. They had built a wonderful friendship, and she couldn't bear to lose him if she spoke of how she felt. The deep tones of his voice relaxed her as he spoke, explaining why he'd been late. She took a second to clear her throat before answering him. "It's alright, I really didn't have anything going on anyways. I can understand, no one likes traffic in the city. I haven't ordered yet, though I'm sure someone will arrive soon." She had no need to look at the menu, she knew what she wished to have. Turning her eyes to one of the working waiters, she nodded as their gazes connected. The young girl made her way over, smiling at both of them. "What can I get you on this fine evening?" With a smile, she ordered what she wanted. "Steak, as rare as you make it preferably. Also, a side of mozzarella sticks. Just a simple glass of water for now, but I'll be sure to let you know if I want anything later." Finished with her order, she turned her head to Jace and waited for him to speak.

"I just tended to the roses today, not much else. Though, it sounded like you had a rather interesting day. I'd love to hear what's going around, but I am confused of why you asked me here." Teimhnin had to admit she was confused. He'd never really had her go anywhere with him, just stayed at the house with her. The days she got home from work were the best. Her was sleeping when she came home, allowing her to take out her sketchbook and draw the angles of his face in the light. Sometimes she would just crawl into bed with him and listen to his breathing before falling asleep herself. On her days off work, she'd wait for him to get there and steal her away from the world. They'd swam in the pool together, him doing laps as she laid out to rest. Sometimes she'd swim with him, but her swimming was amateur compared to his. Teimhnin remembered the day where they had raced. Jace had lapped her over and over until she knew it was pointless. Eventually she would get out, order a drink, and watch him swim.

Meeting him at the Griffen was completely new, but it also made her heart skip. She was just about to speak again when her drink arrived. Taking the straw, she put it to her lips and drank the cool liquid. Her eyes, glancing at the table, now looked up to him in a curious gaze.

In an attempt to distract himself and her, he began to tell her of his day, while his eyes never left hers. "Well, it turns out that my client... Umm... 'Doug', we shall refer to him as. Well, Doug decided he wanted to rob a department store in the middle of the night, and even called his name out as he was doing it. The recording security cameras, caught the whole thing on tape, and yet I am somehow working on getting him out of jail time. It's not going to be an easy case, but it shall make me a very nice wad to fit within my pocket." As he spoke, his hands played across the velvet box. As his thumb rolled over the top, he smiled at her. She had no idea what he was doing and he was loving every minute of it. As he finished his story, he grabbed the glass of water and took a drink or two. Why had he brought her here? What kind of answer does he give to her? Time to lie and delay!

"I brought you here, because I wanted to talk about your friend. Alexander, I think it was. What's the deal with him? It seems like he is always around. I think he has a crush on you.." Jace said as he took another sip of the water. As a waitress walked by, he grabbed her arm and ordered a glass of wine. She nodded her head and disappeared from their view. He hoped this topic would get her riled up and possibly forget this was the reason. Jace could only wait in suspense, but as he was waiting for her reply, the waitress came back with his glass of wine and her meal. He watched as it was placed before her. The meal looked good, but he was not going to wait for one to be made at his request. It had only been about an hour and a half since he had last eaten. He was planning for a very rigorous work out after this whole shebang was over.

Teimhnin rested her chin on her palm, keeping her eyes locked on his as he spoke. Her wolf listened as well with ears perked in interest. "I take it this "Doug", was very stupid? Though he leaves you a decent wad of cash, what he did was obvious stupidity. Tell me, was he intoxicated when these events happened?" She went along with his conversation, though it hadn't answered her question. Jace was the only man she allowed to confuse her because his surprises turned out to be the kind she enjoyed. There didn't seem to be any bad news when he was around, just new things to brighten her mood every day. When he smiled at her, she couldn't help but smile back. The look in his hazel eyes made her curious but her eyes brightened in response. Though as he spoke further, her smile faded and her eyes became confused.

"Alex and I are simply co-workers. Not only that, but he is a close friend. I've done nothing with him but spend friendly time. If he has a crush on me, I'm afraid I cannot return the affections. Why would you want to know?" He had brought her to the place they had met just to talk about Alex? He could've just came to the house and spoke to her about it. The fae had dressed up for him, thinking it was some kind of special occasion. Teimhnin looked closely at his eyes and knew he was lying to her. Those hazel eyes of his had always been the windows of his true emotions. She had found that out during their time together. The beta trusted him not to lie to her like he was now. Over the past few weeks they had spent together, she had fallen in love with him. Teimhnin hadn't admitted this to herself until recently but now she was both comfortable with it and confused. She thought he had been leading her onto something, and yet he sat there asking about one of her friends.

As he meal arrived with his wine, she looked down at what she ordered before eating slowly. The steak, like always, was rare and almost bloody. Her canines lengthened at the sight of it and she ate that first. The waitress came as soon as she was finished, not getting even the slightest bit of food on her dress or anywhere to ruin her appearance. Before the waitress could pull away, she ordered a glass of darkest red wine they had. Teimhnin remained silent and looked at him, awaiting his reply or him to admit that he had lied. If he wanted to lie to her, she could only stand so much of it. The wineglass was set in front of her and she lifted it in her hand slowly. The rim touched her lips, and she sipped it slowly. It was delicious, but it always had been.

"Doug was not the smartest client I have ever had and I'm sure he will not be the last, but he does have a lot of money, which is very good for u... I mean me. I mean think about if I actually get him off scott free, think of all the people who will come to my firm and bring in more money. I will be able to buy anything either of us could possibly want." As the idea loomed over in his mind, he smiled and watched as the waitress came back to their table once more. As she placed down the glass, he placed a hand on her wrist and looked up to her eyes. "I'm going to need another one of these, when you get a chance." as he released her, she blushed slightly in her cheeks and gave him a bright smile. Whether that was a flirtatious action or not, the female obviously took it as such. She smiled and moved from him, going straight to the kitchen, but Jace had not caught on to such a female thing. His concern was for the ring which was hidden inside the velvet casing, deep within his pocket.

He picked up the glass and drank from it, after swirling it about in the glass. He watched the wine move in a slow circle around the walls of the crystal glass. His eyes then moved to Teimhnin and his ears were attacked with the words of Alex. Now she was questioning him? Hell no. Jace placed down the glass of wine and pulled his hand from his pocket, connecting it with his second. He laced his fingers in one another and placed them atop the table. "No, it's more than that. He kinda seems like a creep of sorts. He follows you around like a lost puppy, and I mean, I understand you are friends, but come on... He's always around. I swear he waits outside your door, waiting for you to leave and when he sees me, he glares as if he is trying to scare me away from you. Now, I know our relationship has its advantages, but there is no way I'm gonna allow the dweeb to get between us. Something has got to give, Teimhnin." Jace held a serious face, but on the inside, he was laughing his ass off. He tried to say anything he could to get a rouse from her, cause her to make a scene. Wasn't that how it was in the movies? Perhaps not in the asshole way Jace had thought of, but maybe, just maybe it would work out in his favor. If he was going to ask Teimhnin to be his mate, or in the words of the humans, his "wife". Jace peered around the room with his hazel eyes, seeing everyone was rather enveloped within their meals and conversations. The clatter around the room was rather loud and obnoxious. She would have to yell to catch the attention of everyone. But he hoped it would work.

She laughed softly at his words, nodding in agreement. "That's good to hear. I never asked, but do you win most of your cases? It sounds like a very interesting career." The fae was genuinely interested in his duties as a lawyer. She herself had gotten in trouble with the human laws a few times, but one night with a cop got her a freedom card. Her past wasn't something she was proud of, but she knew she couldn't change that. It took her a minute to realize that she had been zoning out and that a human was next to their table. Teimhnin's eyes watched the waitress, knowing she was obviously flirting with Jace. As the human turned to her, the fae's eyes turned flat and cold. At her glare, the waitress jumped slighty and for good reason. After a pause, when she realized Teimhnin wasn't going to stop until she left, the fae gave her one of the meanest smiles. This caused the waitress to all but run away and it left Teimhnin smirking. She honestly didn't care that he thought of her reaction to the human's flirting. The turn he was taking in their conversation had much more interest. Why was he lying to her and asking about Alex now?  She had come to this restaurant thinking they were going to have a nice time. Instead, she was growing frustrated. The blood rushed beneath her pale cheeks and showed her anger from the red within them. As she spoke, her voice started low but rose higher with every sentence and becoming loud enough to catch peoples' attention.

"I cannot help how a man follows me or cares for me if I do not even notice it, now can I? You could've just came to the house like you do every day and talk to me about this, but now I think you're trying to humiliate me. He's the a good friend, and I'd appreciate that you didn't call him names. Alex doesn't call you names when he talks about you, even if he doesn't like you. He will not get between us, at least that's what I think. If you don't think that, then apparently I need to rethink how close we are. I might as well just go do that alone, if you're going to keep up with this!"
She growled low in her throat, preparing to leave as she refused to look at him.

Picking up his glass of wine, he took a sip and placed it down, while answering her. "Over the last few months I have been winning a lot of cases. I've literally been taking all the bizarre ones that nobody has he balls to take. Defending the criminals can be very hard and tiring, but I enjoy the challenge. If it were fun to side with good, I would become the prosecution." He chuckled as he drank from his glass yet again, watching her reaction to the female. Why was she getting so angry at the girl? All she had done was retrieve him more wine, like waitresses who wanted a fat tip would do. But as soon as the female was out of sight, it seemed Teimhnin's anger had almost skyrocketed. Her cheeks began growing red, much like her hair, while ehr eyes glared into his. Her crystal blue turned to ice, freezing over his hazel orbs. Jace could feel the eyes staring around them, in shock and awe. Obviously he was a monster and this girl deserved much better. Had he asked the audience for help, they might have begun throwing their cobb salads or pasta veras on him. Reaching his hand into his pocket once more, he rubbed the case. It was almost time. As she began to move from the table, he realized he had possibly pushed her too far. Keeping his voice loud, drawing more curious eyes, he spoke, "Teimhnin, wait." Pulling himself from the seat, he stood in her path, not allowing ehr to move around him either to the side or forward. His body blocked her only path to the exit. His emerald eyes looked over her, trying to lighten the mood with a simple gaze. But hers did not change. Alex was the perfect tool to anger her and she walked right into his plan. Slowly he dropped to one knee, opening the small box in his pocket and opening it to reveal the engagement ring he had purchased for her earlier that day. The ring he was getting, making him late to meet her. Holding it tight in his hand, he slid his hand down her wrist and grabbed her delicate palm with his. His head lifted to look up to her. "Teimhnin, will you marry me?" Pulling the ring from his pocket, he held it out for her and their audience to see. Surprisingly, their were soft gasps and cute noises being made all around them. He figured his display would cause a riot and an outrage that he would even think of marrying her after the way he treated her, well her reaction to him anyway. His smile opened, exposing his white teeth as he continued to look up to her. "I love you more than anything in the whole world and want nothing more than to spend every waking moment with you. Will you be my wife and allow me to love and hold you until death do us part?"

Just as she was turning to leave, he blocked her path. A low growl worked into her throat, but instantly dissipated as she went down on one knee. Her first thought that was he was either hurt or sick, and worry laced her eyes. It took the fae a few seconds to see the velvet box resting in his palm, more importantly the ring settled inside. Teimhnin’s kohl-rimmed eyes widened in shock as her anger slowly melted away piece by piece. The gasps of the crowd went unheard to her as he asked her five simple words. For a few moments, her eyes flicked to his face and then to the ring. Her mouth parted, but she couldn’t speak. The more he spoke, the more her vision tunneled on him. She was trying to tell if he was serious, or if it was some kind of prank. As she saw the sincere look in his eyes, it all became real to her. Her mind flashed back to every time she swore he didn’t have the same feelings as her, or that glimmer of hope that he did. Either way she had been thinking was all but dissipated at the very moment her eyes met his. She could finally realize with perfectly clarity that this was really happening, he was really down on one near and asking her to marry him. Teimhnin knew this meant he was asking her to be his mate, but couldn’t do that in front of the humans. There wasn’t a lie in his eyes like when he was asking about Alex. As she swallowed, she nodded. Her throat had gone dry and she couldn’t form words. Realizing she hadn’t blinked for some time, she closed her eyes briefly. “Yes, Jace, I will be your mate and will adore you and love you for the rest of our lives. I have ever since the night we were together. I love you.” The words came out softly, knowing only he could hear them. She gained her composure and smiled at him, raising her voice so the crowd could hear her answer. This time, she made it sound as if they were human. Her voice came out shocked and happy. “Yes, I will marry you. Yes!” She watched as the room clapped and cheered out of the corner of her eye, not leaving his gaze as she tugged him up to stand.

In the moments, he waited for her reply, were probably the most frightening he had ever been through. Would she say yes to him, or be so pissed off that she rejected him. He hoped like hell she would not be angry at all, but there was no telling with Teimhnin. That was the fire that he adored in her. She was always spontaneous, something he adored. But that was the price he paid for his trickery to her about Alex. It was a lie. He was not worried about the male, knowing full well that he was gay. There was no way that boy was straight. Jace laughed about it often, thinking how funny it was that they spent so much time together and he never had tried anything. Perhaps it was his scent which covered hers, or blended with it. No matter the issue, he liked that fact. He knew she had worn his clothes around the house, smelling her in them as he made his way to work. But he also knew he smelled like her, sleeping in her bed, being around her all the time. Finally she answered him. Her bright eyes stared into his and he could felt the tears building within his. She said yes. He listened to her words, taking them all in as she whispered in low tones to him, but once she spoke for the audience to hear, he stood up and wrapped his arms around her. He placed his lips against her soft and pouty ones. "I love you so much!" he exclaimed, lifting her up and spinning her around.

Gently he placed her back down to her feet. "I guess we should finish up or meal. I have a surprise for you at home.." he said as he smiled at her. He moved behind her, pulling her chair out and pushing it back in as she sat down. He walked to his side and sat in the chair, placing the napkin over his lap. As he looked across at her, watching her closely, the waitress came with a special bottle of wine, just for them. He smiled and nodded to her, then looked back to his mate, his fiance.
